GlobalPort spoils Lastimosa's career game in big win over Elite

MANILA, Philippines -- Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle alternately punished Blackwater as GlobalPort returned to the win column with an easy 120-105 win Sunday in the 2015 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Romeo and Pringle led five GlobalPort players in double figures as the Batang Pier broke the game wide open in the second half.

Pringle, last season's Rookie of the Year, hit 11 of his 17 points in the third frame while Romeo, the reigning Most Improved Player, also unloaded 11 of his game-high 27 in the payoff period that were too much to overcome for the Elite.

Pringle added six rebounds and six assists.

GlobalPort's backcourt production was enough to withstand Carlo Lastimosa's career night as the nephew of Jojo Lastimosa came away with 31 points, 23 coming in the first half that helped the Elite stay afloat.

The Batang Pier made their move starting in the third frame behind Pringle's third quarter then Romeo finished it off in the fourth quarter. GlobalPort turned a slim 64-59 halftime lead into several double digit leads that swelled to as many as 17 late in the game.

Their backcourt drew solid support from their frontline tandem of Doug Kramer and Rico Maierhofer, who both finished with double-double.  Kramer wound up with 16 points and 15 rebounds while Maierhofer chipped in 12 and 10.

Joseph Yeo rounded up the double digit scorer for the Batang Pier hitting all of his 14 points in the first half.

GlobalPort improved to 4-3 while Blackwater slumped to their fourth straight loss and remained near the bottom of the standings with 1-6 record.

Vastly-improved JP Erram logged in a career-high seven shot blocks that went with nine points,14 boards and two assists.
