MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle University yesterday confirmed it was parting ways with Green Archers coach Juno Sauler and started the search for his replacement.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the DLSU Office of Sports Development said Sauler formally tendered his resignation from the post yesterday, leaving behind triumphs in the UAAP and other tournaments in his three-year stint.
“The University extends its appreciation to coach Juno for his years of dedicated service to the team. With his able leadership, he orchestrated the Green Archers’ outstanding performance that gave DLSU titles in the 76th UAAP, the 2013 PCCL Tournament and the 2014 Filoil Tournament,” the school said.
Sauler quit six days after the Archers suffered a stinging 68-71 eliminations loss to Far Eastern U that cost them a playoff for the fourth and last Final Four berth.
DLSU said it will form a search committee to look for a new mentor for the next competitions.
Reports put current assistant Siot Tanquincen, former coach Franz Pumaren, and Alaska assistant Louie Alas as among the candidates for the job.
