Superal wrests lead in Sabah Jr Masters

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Princess Superal recalled fierce form to fire a three-under 69 and open a three-stroke over The Country Club teammate Pauline del Rosario at the start of the Sabah International Junior Masters at the Sabah Golf Club in Kota Kinabalu late Friday.

Superal, the former US Girls Junior champion out to snap a long title spell, gunned down four birdies against a bogey as she took early control of the 16-18 division which drew some of the region’s leading and rising junior players.

Del Rosario matched par 72 in a rather slow start for a player who is coming off back-to-back victories in the Thailand Amateur Open and the Thailand Juniors, while Malaysian Nur Eliano stood six strokes off Superal with a 75.

Sam Martirez and Abby Arevalo, also members of Team TCC, hobbled with a pair 78s in the 54-hole tournament.
