Euro-Med, Supremo Lex score in PCBL
MANILA, Philippines - Euro-Med and Supremo Lex carved out contrasting victories that breathed life to their bids in the PCBL Founders Cup Friday night at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Behind the big games of Mar Villahermosa and the timely explosion of Paul Zamar and Jopher Custodio, Euro-Med blasted Cagayan Valley, 77-63, to keep its top four hopes alive in this tournament supported by Spalding, Ambucore, Accel and Aquabest.
Snubbed in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft, Villahermosa is making his mark with Euro-Med. He had another solid game with 21 points as he steered his team to its fifth win in nine games to forge a tie for second-fourth places with Sta. Lucia and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.
Zamar, son of former national team and ex-University of the East coach Boyzie Zamar, added 13 markers, including three triples that enabled Euro-Med to break the game wide open.
Custodio, picked in the fourth round by GlobalPort in the 2013 Rookie Draft, added 12.
Supremo Lex wielded the upset ax on Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, 69-62, for its second win in the last three games.
