NU-MFT nips Bulsu, joins Foton at helm

MANILA, Philippines - Manila NU-MFT turned back Malolos Mighty Bulsu, 62-60, last Tuesday to join Pampanga Foton at the helm in the Filsports Basketball Association Second Conference at the Marikina Sports Complex.

Issa Gayle sizzled with game-highs 23 points and 20 rebounds as the Bulldogs nailed their fifth victory against a loss for a share of the lead with the Toplanders, who fell to Pateros Austen Morris Associates, 91-93.

Nic Belasco, a former PBA stalwart, combined with Jawar Purdy and Chris Cofield for 68 points for the Associates, who moved into a four-way tie for third at 2-4 with the Marikina Wangs Deliverers, who brought down First Conference champion Quezon City UP, 90-82.

The Maroons and Mighty Bulsu also tote 2-4 slates.

Cedric Labing-isa and Kojak Melegrito scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, for Wangs.

Levi Hernandez and Michael Rosaroso scored 18 points apiece for the Tornadoes.

The games are televised on Aksyon TV, Aksyon International, Net 25, Net International Channel and Fox Sports International.
