Texas Legends grab first win; Parks still searching for first basket

Bobby Ray Parks, Jr.

MANILA, Philippines -- Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. again failed to score but made his presence felt as the Texas Legends blew past Oklahoma City Blue, 105-95, Sunday (Monday Manila time) on the road for their first win of the season.

The Fil-Am guard was inserted by the Legends coach Nick Van Exel for the first time in the game in the final 1:46 of the opening quarter and their team ahead by nine, 24-15.

Parks, Jr. grabbed a rebound and had a steal but missed a step back jumper at the buzzer.  He continued to play through the first five minutes of the second quarter and missed his second and last attempt - a three-pointer.

He saw action in the second half towards the end of the third quarter and the opening moments of the fourth period.

Parks, Jr. tallied two rebounds, an assist and a steal without a turnover in 11 minutes of play.  He played the third least minutes in the Legends' 10-man roster with his NBA Summer League teammate and the Dallas Mavericks' 52nd pick Satnam Singh seeing action for only one minute and quickly got two fouls.

Van Exel relied heavily on his starters as all five hit in double figures.

Jamil Wilson led them with 29 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Starting point guard Tu Holloway added 26 points, two boards, five assists and three steals.  Brandon Ashley and Toure' Murry had 16 each while Allen Durham scored 10 for the Legends, who split their first two road games.

They will host the Austin Spurs in their home opener on Friday (Saturday Manila time) looking to avenge their 25-point blowout loss.
