MANILA, Philippines -- Gary David outscored Josh Urbiztondo in a smoking hot duel in the fourth quarter but the latter had the last laugh in the end.
Urbiztondo fired a season-high 24 points as he helped the Barako Bull Energy overcame Gary David's 40-point explosion and kept the Meralco Bolts winless in a 108-106 victory Sunday in the 2015 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup's last day of a weeklong playdate at the Philsports Arena.
Urbiztondo, who hit 13 of his total in a big run in the payoff period, drew plenty of support with RR Garcia and Willy Wilson adding 18 and 17 points, respectively, to give Barako Bull its second win in four games.
David was not to be outdone in the fourth period pouring in 14 points to help the Bolts close in after trailing by 10 earlier. David's last triple pushed the Bolts within two, 108-106, with 29 seconds left. They had a golden chance to send the game into overtime or steal it with a triple when Garcia missed his drive in the final five seconds.
But Barako tightened up its defense denying David the ball then Reynel Hugnatan was forced to missed an inside incursion in front of Wilson's outstretched hands at the buzzer.
The Bolts remained as the only winless team in the league at 0-4.
