LIPA CITY, Philippines – With its stars struggling, reigning champion Petron made some bold adjustments on its attacks to essay an impressive 27-25, 25-23, 25-16 triumph over Foton yesterday in the 2015 Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix women’s volleyball tournament at the De La Salle-Lipa Sentrum.

The Blaze Spikers dug into their deep bench to complete the conquest and claim a share of the lead in the inter-club tourney presented by Asics and backed by Milo with Senoh, Mueller and Mikasa as technical partners and TV5 as official broadcaster.

Star spiker Aby Marano checked in late while middle blocker Dindin Manabat had a sluggish performance, but it hardly mattered when Maica Morada and Frances Molina came to the rescue with Brazilian Rupia Inck posting big numbers for Petron, which gained enough momentum entering its blockbuster showdown with dangerous Philips Gold on the final day of the elimination round tomorrow.

The Blaze Spikers and the Lady Slammers share the lead with 7-2 marks.

The winner in their duel will earn top seeding to face the fourth seed in the do-or-die semifinals next week.
