Instituto, Navy dispute last semis slot in Spikers’ Turf

MANILA, Philippines – Instituto Estetico Manila and Philippine Navy clash Saturday in a do-or-die showdown for the last semifinal spot in the Spikers' Turf Season 1-Reinforced Conference presented by PLDT Home Ultera at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Phoenix Volley Masters and the Sailors are currently tied at No. 4 with identical 1-4 (win-loss) records and the winner in their 5 p.m. encounter will clinch the last semis berth and a duel with the top-seeded Air Force Raiders in a best-of-three series.

Air Force lost to PLDT Home Ultera, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 14-25, last Sunday to end up tied for first with Cignal TV Inc. on 4-1 slates.

But the Raiders clinched the No. 1 seed after emerging with the better tiebreaker points of 12, one ahead of the HD Spikers' 11.

PLDT ended up as the No. 3 seed with a 3-2 slate and will take on Cignal in another best-of-three match.
