Gasquet to take on familiar foe for Basel semis slot

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Maverick Richard Gasquet will be facing a familiar foe as he advances deeper in the hostilities in Basel.
Shortly after beating Dominic Thiem via two sets, the French Gasquet will be taking on Ivo Karlovic of Croatia for a spot in the Swiss Indoors semifinals.
Gasquet, ranked 11th in the ATP ladder has played against Karlovic, currently 23rd, for five times already. The latter holds advantage over the veteran Croat as he won their last three outings.
The last time Karlovic won over Gasquet on a hard surface was during the 2011 US Open.
Gasquet will be seeing action alongside superstars Serena Williams, Milos Raonic and local hero Treat Huey in for the second season of the Philippine Mavericks in the International Premier Tennis League.
The IPTL is set to mount its second leg at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, starting December 6 through 8.
