Young judoka vows to pin down gold
MANILA, Philippines - Martial arts phenom Brayden Del Rosario aims to deliver the laurels for the country as he competes in the Jagsport Invitational judo competition slated Nov.21-23 in Singapore.
The seven-year-old Del Rosario, who will be accompanied by father-coach and former boxing and MMA winner Robert Del Rosario, will be representing the Philippines in the seven-under age group category under Team UJFC and Team Empire.
The promising young judoka, a First Grade student of Colegio San Agustin, was chosen for his impressive record, winning two golds in the Hajime International Judo at Ateneo last June and in the Gentri Invitational, and the bronze in the ISM Invitational Judo competition through the support of Uratex, GNC, Summit Drinking Water, Empire Boxing Gym, Te Amo Floristeria and Reebok.
“This will be one big learning experience for me. I’m not going to pressure myself but I will do my best to bring home the gold for our country,” said Brayden.
Even at a young age, Brayden has flaunted a different kind of passion for martial arts, getting involved in muay thai at three and a half years old and fundamental MMA at age four.
At the same age, he also had his first taste of victory as Kyukushin Karate International champion before he shifted to judo and boxing when he turned six.
Despite being a bemedalled young judoka, Brayden has remained very humble, gets good grades and does volunteer work. And he’s also quite talented as he also sings and plays the drum.
