MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Maverick Jarmila Gajdosova suffered a second straight loss at the hands of a familiar tormentor in Yaroslava Shvedova at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open.
Gajdosova, who has tangled with Shvedova four times in her career, crashed out of the tournament after two sets, 4-6, 4-6, Monday.
Ranked 85 in the WTA ladder, Shvedova has won thrice over the Maverick Gajdosova.
Gajdosova is currently 100th in the rankings.
Meanwhile, over at the women's doubles field, the pair of Japanese Kurumi Nara and Lauren Davis also got the boot.
Nara and her partner Davis were defeated by the all-Taiwanese duo of Chin-Wei Chan and Lee Ya-Hsuan, 4-6 and 3-6.
Nara, just like Gajdosova, will be seeing action in the International Premier Tennis League this December. The former will be suiting up for the Japan Warriors led by Men's No. 6 Kei Nishikori.
The IPTL will be holding its second leg here on December 6 to 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
