MANILA, Philippines – Borna Coric is again proving why he's the highest-ranked teen in the Emirates ATP Rankings.
Coric, unleashed a resilient comeback from a 3-1 hole and then again from 4-2 in the tie-break to stun Alexandr Dolgopolov, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(5), a dispatch made available yesterday by the ATP World Tour reported.
The fast-rising Croatian star, who is due to play under the Philippine Mavericks' banner this December in the International Premier Tennis League, extended Dolgopolov's losses to six.
The 18-year-old Coric's win against the No. 37 Ukrainian serves a rebound from his Tokyo loss to Kei Nishikori, who will suit up for the Japan Warriors.
Currently ranked 40th in the ATP ladder, Coric is looking primed for another spotless run in Shanghai. He won seven straight before the loss in Japan, winning the Barranquilla Challenger championship in the process.
