MANILA, Philippines - The National University Pep Squad guns for a three-peat today as cheerdancers take the spotlight in the UAAP Season 78 cheerdance competition at the MOA Arena.
NU Pep Squad, which has transformed from a whipping team into a major force in the annual event, seeks its place in the history of the event as only the third contingent to string up three successive titles.
The University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe and the University of the Philippines Pep Squad achieved the feat twice in the CDC’s 20-year history.
The highly anticipated competition starts at 2 p.m. with UP taking the floor first, followed by La Salle Animo Squad, Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, NU, University of the East Pep Squad, Adamson Pep Squad, FEU and UST.
Last year, NU showed its top form in tumbling, stunts, tosses, pyramids, and dance in its “Pocahontas-inspired routine” to earn a winning 677.5 points from the judges and accomplish its “Bark to Back” goal.
