Perpetual rips AUF, boosts quaterfinal bid

MANILA, Philippines - Perpetual Help trounced Angeles University Foundation, 72-60, to bolster its quarterfinal bid in the 13th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at San Beda gym in Mendiola over the weekend. 

Daryl Singontiko tallied 16 points while Kervin Lucente and Chester Saldua fired 15 points apiece for the Altas, who hiked their record to 4-1 in Group B of the seniors division.

San Beda-A paces the field with a 7-1 slate, according to commissioner Robert de la Rosa.

JC Foronda hit 26 points as Diliman College defeated Mary the Queen College, 80-71, to even its card at 2-2, while University of Santo Tomas held back St. Michael, 66-62.

In junior division, AMA Computer University smothered Arellano University, 96-75, to post its sixth straight triumph in Group A.

JR Barde exploded for 24 points for the Junior Titans, who moved two games away from sweeping the elims.

In other secondary games, National University whipped Mapua, 88-53, while San Sebastian routed UNO, 82-55.

Xavier School also blasted St. Jude College, 81-44, to likewise stretch its win run to six.

Heaven Cabili fired 19 points as Perpetual Help demolished Holy Cross-Pampanga, 104-59, while St. Michael won over Philippine Cultural College, 71-54.
