PNP notches third straight win in UNTV

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police rolled to its third straight victory in Group A elims of the fourth UNTV Cup as it downed National Housing Authority, 78-66, even as Malacañang finally barged into the win column at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig last Sunday.
Antonio Tolentino took charge in the fourth quarters with the 5-foot-7 guard pouring in 11 of his 13 points to power the team past the Builders in the tournament for the country’s public servants.
Four other players scored in double figures to underscore PNP’s balanced offensive sock with Ollan Omiping – the team’s leading scorer – chipping in 11 markers.
The Malacañang Patriots, on the other hand, held Senate’s player-coach Kenneth Duremdes to 12 points on their way to snapping a two-game skid with an 88-74 win.
Samuel Ignacio, Visnu Das Javier and former University of the Philippines star Jenkins Mesina led Malacañang’s assault with 26, 19 and 14 points, respectively, most of them in the payoff period where they outscored the Defenders, 24-14.
In the other game, Metro Manila Development Authority improved to 2-1 in Group B with an 82-60 drubbing of House of Representatives. HOR slipped to 1-1.
