Ex-Korean ace back to play pro hoops

CHANGSHA – Kim Min-goo, a leading South Korean hotshot who figured in a car accident in the lead-up to the 2014 FIBA World Cup, is back but has been relegated to being a role player for his club team at home in Seoul.

This was according to a Korean sportswriter that covers the Korean campaign in the ongoing Asian joust here.

The scribe doubts if Kim can still recover his old deadly form that helped Korea book a slot in the last World Cup and handed him a spot in the Mythical Selection in the last Asian joust.

Kim made the Mythical Five with Gilas’ Jayson Castro, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chih-chieh and Iran stars Hamed Haddadi and Oshin Sahakian.

Forward Yang Donggeun has emerged Korea’s top gun in the current Asian tourney, averaging 19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists through their first four games.

Cho Sungmin (16.0) and Lee Jonghyun (10.8) are the other Korean players who average in twin digits here.
