MANILA, Philippines - The NCAA suspended Perpetual Help’s Nick Cabiltes and Nestor Bantayan and Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Raymund Pascua for two games and slapped a one-game ban on EAC’s Sydney Onwubere for figuring in a fistfight outside The Arena in San Juan City following the Altas’ 89-59 win over the Generals last Tuesday.

NCAA Management Committee chair Melchor Divina of Mapua also warned Perpetual Help’s John Ylagan and Flash Gordon Sadiwa in the aftermath of the fracas.

“We hope these suspensions serve as warning that the NCAA will not condone violence on and off the court,” said Divina.

The suspensions were apart from the one-game ban slapped on Cabiltes, Pascua and teammate Enjerico Diego for their on-court misconduct.

Meanwhile, the NCAA action resumes today with a heavy three-game bill featuring the semifinal contenders.

Joint leader San Beda clashes with joint fourth running Mapua at 12 noon, while co-leaders Perpetual Help and Letran face No. 6 Jose Rizal and No. 4 Arellano at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

San Beda, Perpetual Help and Letran share the lead at 11-4 while Arellano and Mapua stay just behind with 10-5 slates. JRU remains in the race with a 9-6 slate.

In yesterday’s results, Lyceum of the Philippines University banked on Cameroonian Jean Victor Nguidjol as it trounced a depleted EAC side, 59-45, to improve to 4-12.

The 6-9 Nguidjol shot 16 points, hauled down 14 rebounds and made two blocks to power the Pirates to victory.

The undermanned EAC lost another player in Jefferson Mallari, who was tossed out for head-locking Ngudjol late in the first half while Cameroonian Laminou Hamadou fouled out with two minutes left in the contest, leaving the Generals with seven players.

In the other seniors match, Jonathan Grey fired 25 points as St. Benilde toppled San Sebastian, 69-62, for a 4-12 mark. The Stags took their 11th loss against five wins.

In juniors’ action, Lyceum edged EAC in overtime, 95-90, and St. Benilde routed San Sebastian, 87-57, to jump into a share of fourth with 10-6 records.
