MANILA, Philippines – Thanasi Kokkinakis of the Singapore Slammers needed more than a win to log one for himself and his doubles partner in St. Petersburg Open in Russia.
Kokkinakis and Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus got the boot early in the Russian tennis tournament after the succumbing to Ricardas Berankis and Teymuraz Gabashvili, 6-1, 5-7, 4-10, in the men's doubles action.
Kokkinakis wasn't able to make the most out of Baghdatis' winning edge after the latter emerged victorious in a hard-fought match against Latvian Ernests Gulbis in three sets.
The Slammer, who is a Greek-Australian by descent, will be seeing action in the International Premier Tennis League that is slated later this year.
