Mayweather challenges Pacquiao to 1-on-1 basketball duel
MANILA, Philippines -- A Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao rematch might be happening after all. But not inside the ring.
Mayweather reportedly told Meralco Bolts' team manager Paolo Trillo that he's challenging Pacquiao to a one-on-one basketball match with a $2-million bet.
The undefeated American boxer, who announced his retirement after his unanimous decision against Andre Berto on Sunday, went to check Impact Basketball camp where the Bolts are currently training for the coming PBA season.
Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, Paolo's wife, posted on Instagram a photo of her husband with Mayweather at the sidelines in the Impact Basketball gym in Las Vegas.
Mayweather asked Trillo if Pacquiao is playing with them. Trillo then explained to Mayweather that Pacquiao is coaching another team (Mahindra Enforcers formerly Kia).
"I'll play PAC one-on-one anytime for $2M!," Mayweather told Trillo.
A surprised Trillo asked Mayweather if he could take Pacquiao one-on-one on the court to which the American boxer replied: "How do you think I started? I started playing basketball on the streets when I was young!"
