PSC cites Phoenix Premium 98 involvement in golf, other sports
MANILA, Philippines - The Phoenix Premium 98 Amateur Open Series presented by Mechatrends got a boost recently as the Philippine Sports Commission recognized the efforts by Phoenix Petroleum Philippines to spur golf development and its goal of discovering future champion golfers.
PSC chairman Richie Garcia, one of the special guests in the ceremonial tee off of the series at Manila Southwoods leg on Sept. 18, welcomed the involvement of Phoenix in several sports, including a new long-term program for golf.
Garcia, an avid golfer, will join Phoenix chairman Dennis Uy, chief operating officer Romeo de Guzman, consultant Gen. Hermogenes Esperon and Southwoods chair Robert Sobrepeña in the opening ceremony at Manila Southwoods’ Legends course.
“The three-leg series, sponsored by Magsaysay Transport and Logistics Services and BDO, is coming off a successful inaugural in Cebu where more than 100 golfers vied for titles in five divisions,” said Atty. Zorilla, Phoenix vice president for external affairs.
