NBA MVP here on Philippines stop of tour
MANILA, Philippines - NBA MVP Stephen Curry brings his act to Manila today in a one-day whirlwind visit as part of Under Armour’s five-city, three-country roadshow.
Curry, who helped power the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA championship in 40 years, will be coming in from Tokyo, where he kicked off his tour. From the airport, he will head straight to the Raffles Hotel in Makati City for a media conference.
Curry, along with local endorsers of Under Armour, will then meet and greet Filipino basketball fans at the MOA Arena in Pasay City in the afternoon.
“China and the Philippines have a rich cultural connection to basketball and I’ve heard the game is becoming more popular in Japan by the day,” said Curry in a press release.
“This will be an unforgettable experience and we have some special things planned for some of the best basketball fans in the world,” said Curry, referring to the Filipino fans.
From Manila, Curry will fly straight to China tomorrow with stops in Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai.
Curry is the latest NBA superstar to visit the country in the last few weeks.
Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James graced the Nike Rise program a couple of weeks ago followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Ricky Rubio of adidas and the Denver Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried and the San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green for the NBA 3X 2015.
