MANILA, Philippines - Princess Superal faltered at the frontside finish and hobbled with a wind-raked two-over 76, tumbling to joint 10th, five strokes off new leader Aditi Ashok of India after two rounds of the Ladies British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at the Moortown Golf Club in Alwoodley, England Thursday.
Superal, who fired an eagle-spiked 73 over the par-74 layout Wednesday, resumed her bid with two pars and a birdie on No. 12 but bogeyed the next two as the wind picked up early in the day. The top ICTSI-The Country Club bet birdied No. 16 but dropped another stroke on the next and stayed within striking distance of the leaders despite a shaky two-birdie, one-bogey stint in the first seven holes at the front.
But the Filipina ace hit an errant tee shot on the par-3 eighth and failed to save par from eight feet then bogeyed the par-5 ninth after another missed green mishap for a 39-37 card.
Though she safely made the cut at 155 with a 36-hole total of 149, the former US Girls’ Junior champion will have a lot of catching up to do as Ashok seized control at 144 after 73.
