Lanao hosts Western Mindanao scouts jamboree

MANILA, Philippines - The ninth Western Mindanao Regional Scouts Jamboree will be held Aug.19-23 with close to 6,000 participants expected at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) sports complex in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

“Everything is all set for our hosting of the regional jamboree. We are very thankful to the provincial government, especially Gov. Khalid Dimaporo and DepEd – Lanao del Norte Division for their support to this activity,” said Ariel Sayri, Lanao del Norte Council Scout executive.

The jamboree roster is composed of boy scouts, senior scouts, rover scouts, scout leaders, contingent head and council officers.

Others expected to attend are BSP delegations from Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Maguindanao, Zamboanga Sibugay as well as contingents from the cities of Pagadian, Cotabato, Iligan and Marawi.

Participants will be divided into five sub-camps assigned to specific areas inside the MCC complex. The scouts will be trained on disaster and emergency preparedness, life saving, environmental preservation, back to basic, pioneering, adventure trail, learn a trade and messengers of peace.
