The Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) hurdled its opening game assignments in three fronts in a big start in the 24th ASEAN Seniors Basketball tournament in Kuching, Malaysia last Tuesday.
FCVBA’s 48-35 victory over Kuala Lumpur in Group B elims of the 60-years division highlighted the team’s opening day romp with former La Salle star Kenneth Yap and ex-MICAA player Zotico Tan leading the attack.
Yap, who had a brief stint in the PBA, dished out a double-double performance of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Tan added six markers, including a jumper that helped spark a fourth quarter assault.
The team, backed by Rain or Shine, Freego and Ironcon Builders, also drew big games from former University of the East star Julio Cruz and Johnny Chua.
In the 50-years division, Jerry Gonzales exploded for 23 points while Benet Palad added 15 markers and Andrew Ongteco and Achit Kaw also stepped up as FCVBA trounced another team from Kuala Lumpur, 62-56.
