MANILA, Philippines - Stephen Curry, whose wondrous three-point shooting helped power the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA championship in 40 years, will share his passion for the sport with the Filipino fans in a one-day visit on Sept. 5.
“I’m bringing my passion for the game to Asia this Sept. with UnderArmour. Get ready! #UARoadshow,” said Curry on his Twitter account @stephencurry30 yesterday.
The Manila stop is the second of a whirlwind three-country, five-city tour that will also bring the reigning MVP to Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai.
“ I’m looking forward to sharing my energy and commitment to basketball with the fans and basketball players in Asia who will leave their mark on the game,” said Curry.
He added: “China and the Philippines have a rich cultural connection to basketball and I’ve heard the game is becoming more popular in Japan by the day. This will be an unforgettable experience and we have some special things planned for some of the best basketball fans in the world.”
The tour, dubbed “The UA Roadshow featuring Stephen Curry,” is designed to connect Curry with the people and culture of these diverse countries through up-and-close personal interactions.
The Warriors star will showcase his relentless dedication to getting better and devotion to helping players everywhere realize their potential both on and off the court.
Curry is actually one of a slew of NBA stars set to visit the country, including Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Ricky Rubio, the Denver Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried and San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green.
James is arriving on Aug. 19 for the Nike Rise program, Rubio hits town on Aug. 20 for an adidas event; while Faried and Green will arrive on Aug. 28 for the NBA 3X3 Philippines at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.
