Sureshot rules beach water polo

MANILA, Philippines - Sureshot Sportsville dominated Hong Kong, 12-8, to rule the first Pilipinas Beach Water Polo tournament at the Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club in Dinalupihan, Bataan recently.

Led by former national team member Dale Evangelista and guest Italian player Andrea Tringali, Sureshot proved too much against the visiting team to scoop the gold medal in the three-day event backed by Anvaya Cove, Sureshot Sportsville, Sante Barley, Gerry’s Grille, Gardenia and Diamond Rent a Car, the official transportation partner.

Other members of the squad were Tani Gomez Jr., Norton Alamara, Ricardo Dilapdilap and Aldo Tong. Hong Kong, the only foreign team in the event, took the silver medal behind Liu Hin Lok, Cheng Hoi Yeung Howard, Cheung Hok Him, Fung Kong Ching, Lo Ka Chun Kelvin, Cheung Tsun Yu and Li Kai Yin.

But the Hong Kong side took the women’s crown as it clobbered the Anvaya Cove Sirens composed of the Tibby sisters Sachi and Kunti, Christine Hipol, Bea Garrido and Danyca Evangelista.

“It’s mission accomplished for us in terms of holding the event. It’s our first but we’re definitely doing it again and hopefully make it a regular tournament in our country,” said Sachi Tibby, head of the organizing team under Optimum Sports.
