Marikina offers summer sports clinics

MANILA, Philippines - The city government of Marikina offers various sports clinics to its young residents as a way of promoting active and healthy way of spending their summer vacation.

Mayor Del de Guzman urged residents aged between seven to 16 years old to take advantage of the sports offer to take up and be proficient in at least one discipline.

 “Sports teaches not just techniques and strategies but also important values such as friendship, discipline, sportsmanship and perseverance. These are life skills which will guide your choices and actions as you get older,” said De Guzman.

The sports clinics provide free tutorial on arnis, basketball, swimming, mixed martial arts, baseball, softball, football, soccer, karatedo, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, badminton and wrestling.

Classes will start next month until May at the Marikina Sports Center.

To avail themselves of the program, interested individuals must submit the photocopy of his/her parent’s voter’s identification card or Barangay Certificate; photocopy of his/her school identification card; and a 1x1 photo.
