Badminton association sends tandems to SEAG

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) will send the country’s top two men’s doubles pairs Paul Jefferson Vivas-Peter Gabriel Magnaye and Philip Joper Escueta-Ronel Estanislao to the 28th Southeast Asian Games slated June 5-16 in Singapore.

PBA-Smash Pilipinas national head coach Paulus Firman said the joint task force of the Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission task force provided badminton with 10 slots each for men and women but they decided to send only the top two men’s doubles pairs, which have a chance for a medal.

“SEA Games badminton competition level is definitely high. It’s too much for us since it’s still a long, long process before we can compete there,” Paulus said.
