Heat rally past Kings; Pelicans stun Grizzlies

MIAMI – Dwyane Wade scored 28 points, Tyler Johnson added 24 and the Miami Heat erased a 12-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Sacramento Kings, 114-109, in overtime Saturday night.

Johnson’s 3-pointer as the shot clock was expiring with just under a minute left put the Heat up four. Wade added a pair of free throws with 31.2 seconds remaining as Miami won its third straight home game – almost unbelievably, its longest such stretch of the season.

Michael Beasley scored 18 points, Mario Chalmers added 12 and Henry Walker and Chris Andersen each had 11 for Miami.

In New Orleans, Tyreke Evans scored 26 points, putting up nearly flawless second-half numbers of 15 points, five assists and no turnovers, and the Pelicans rallied from 18 points down to beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 95-89.

“Coach (Monty Williams) told me to start being aggressive and that’s when I looked for my lanes and started attacking the basket,” Evans said. “I just thought it was time to take over.”

Anthony Davis had 23 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for New Orleans, and said Evans’ halftime adjustment changed everything.

In Philadelphia, Hollis Thompson and Luc Mbah a Moute scored 19 points apiece, and the Philadelphia 76ers surprised the short-handed Atlanta Hawks, 92-84.

Nerlens Noel had 11 points and 17 rebounds for the 76ers, who erased a 16-point deficit to win for the second time in 11 games. Philadelphia (14-49) entered with the NBA’s second-worst record.

Jeff Teague had 17 points to pace Atlanta, which had its six-game winning streak snapped. The Hawks (49-13), who came in with the best record in the league, rested starters Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll – taking more than 41 points out of their lineup.

Atlanta scored just 31 points while shooting 27.5 percent (11 for 40) after halftime. The Hawks were coming off impressive home victories over league powers Cleveland and Houston.

In other results, Cleveland downed Phoenix, 89-79; Indiana turned back New York, 92-86; Minnesota stunned Portland, 121-113; Milwaukee thwarted Washington, 91-85; and Houston trounced Denver, 114-100.
