PORTLAND, Ore. -- Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews ruptured his left Achilles tendon in Portland's game against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night and is out for the season.
Matthews was running with the ball when he fell to the court two minutes into the third quarter and was helped off the floor.
An MRI confirmed the injury, the team said.
Matthews was averaging 16.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assist per game with the Blazers (41-19). He had started all 60 games this season.
Portland went on to beat the Mavericks, 94-75.
