Best, brightest vie in National Cheerleading field
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top teams brace for a battle royale as they clash for top honors om the 2015 National Cheerleading Championships this weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Qualifiers from the just concluded NCR leg will join teams from North, Central and South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao tomorrow and March 1 to determine the national champion.
A total of 75 teams will see action tomorrow, which features the All Girls divisions in the juniors, high school and college levels. On Sunday, another 50 teams will be competing in the Co-Ed and Special Divisions in the high school and college level. Also on tap is the all-Stars, which includes alumni from various schools in an Open format.
“We are expecting the most number of teams in Philippine history to compete in the 2015 nationals, our 10th season,” said NCC national director Eduardo David. “Sixteen divisions, over 200 schools per year, and it all comes down to two days of world-class cheer and dance. It’s going to be fun.”
The five-time national champions Central Colleges of the Philippines Botcats are expected to meet stiff resistance this year from two-time UAAP titlists National University and eight-time NCAA champions University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, among others.
Meanwhile, tickets are available via SM Tickets. Solar Sports will be airing a special two-part program on the NCR qualifiers on Feb. 21-22, as well the 2015 Nationals.
The NCC Season 10 is supported by Smart and Oishi.
