Globe, Head hold expanded junior netfest
MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom and Head Philippines have teamed up for the 17th Head Graphene XT Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit set March 10-June 7 in different parts of the country to promote the sport and discover young talents.
The annual junior netfest will expand from 11 to 17 legs this year in support of an all-out effort to boost grassroots tennis in the country.
“This momentous collaboration by the Philippines’ leading telecommunications company and the biggest name in sports equipment will spearhead the grassroots tennis development program all over the country,” Liza Tang-Yuquico, managing director of Head Philippines, said during the event’s press conference recently at the Contis Restaurant.
Organized by the Dynamic Sports Corporation, the circuit is supported by Chris Sports, Head ATP by Tennis Balls, Graphene XT, Toalson, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Tennis Association (Philta).
“At Head Philippines, we believe that we are molding a lot of young and talented individuals who are just waiting for their chance to be the next Filipino tennis superstars as they gain points for local and international tournaments,” said Tang-Yuquico.
“It is our mission to make Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit the springboard for up and coming players. We are aiming to produce from our very own backyard the first Filipino tennis player who will play for the Olympics,” she added.

The event’s Mindanao sortie includes Davao City March 10-14, Sultan Kudarat March 16-20, Cagayan De Oro March 22-26 and General Santos March 28-April 1.
The Visayas stop includes Dumaguete April 5-9, Bohol April 11-15, Cebu April 17-21, Bacolod April 23-27, Iloilo City April 29-May 3 and Kalibo May 5-9.
