WATCH: Kobe Paras new mixtape goes viral ahead of playoffs
MANILA, Philippines -- A mixtape of Kobe Paras' regular season highlights was uploaded on youtube ahead of the LA Cathedral Phantoms' first round playoff match against Redondo Union Sea Hawks 7pm on Thursday (Friday Manila time).
The 17-year old son of the PBA's only Rookie-MVP Benjie Paras, is among the 35 players that have been recruited by NCAA Division I schools headlining the CIF Open Division playoffs according to Maxpreps.com's Jason Hickman.
Paras, who is already committed to play for the UCLA Bruins in 2016, averaged 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game as a starter for coach William Middlebrooks' squad. They finished the regular season with a 19-6 win-loss record.
The 6-foot-6 junior standout will try to lead the Phantoms alongside Washington State-bound point guard Milan Acquaah against the Leland Green-led Sea Hawks.
The Phantoms have lost only once on the road (6-1) but the Sea Hawks are as formidable at home enjoying an 8-1 win-loss record there.
A win in the first round will give the Phantoms a possible third shot at beating top seed Bishop Montgomery in the next round. The Knights will meet 16th seed J W North Athletics in the opening round. The Phantoms have lost twice to the Knights in heartbreaking fashion (80-76 and 67-59) in the regular season.
