Provincial squads clash for Seaoil finals berths

MANILA, Philippines - City champions all over the country fight it out for the eight remaining provincial spots leading to the 2015 Seaoil-NBTC National High School Championships on March 6-8 at the Meralco gym.

Seeded to the national finals are Assumption College from Davao, Southern City College from Zamboanga, St. John’s Institute (Bacolod), St. Roberts International School (Iloilo), Sacred Heart School (Ateneo de Cebu) and Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori (Cagayan de Oro).

Fourteen provincial berths are up for grabs, while four slots are reserved for qualifiers from the NCR.

Defending MMBL champion Chiang Kai Shek College clinched the first NCR slot after ruling the 32nd Metro Manila Basketball League Championship at the San Beda gym recently. 

Joining the CKSC Blue Dragons are the San Beda Red Cubs, San Beda Team B, and the winner of the UAAP Juniors title clash between the National U Bullpups and the Ateneo Blue Eaglets.

“We are truly excited with the forthcoming national finals where we again hope to witness the future of Philippine basketball as they showcase their young talent and skills,” said NBTC program director Eric Altamirano.

The event, held in partnership with the MVP Sports Foundation, is part of the of grassroots development program of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

Still in contention are Canossa Academy of Lipa, Maryhill College of Lucena, Laguna College of Business & Arts, Rex Dei Academy (Sta. Rosa, Laguna), University of Perpetual Help (Biñan), Tiwalan Academy (San Pedro), Naga City Montessori, Batobalani National High School (Daet), St. Agnes Academy (Legazpi), The Lewis College (Sorsogon), St. Francis of Assisi (North Cavite), University of Perpetual Help Molino (Northeast Cavite), Christian Values School (Northwest Cavite), Lyceum (South Cavite) and Noblesse International School (Angeles).
