MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten Saint Jude Catholic School and second seed Jubilee Christian Academy pulled off contrasting wins to arrange a best-of-three title series in the Juniors Division of the second Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) Basketball Championships at the Uno High Gym in Tondo, Manila.
The twice-to-beat Judenites dominated the defending champion Uno High School side, 88-37, in their semis showdown to remain unbeaten in nine games since the elims.
Team skipper Renzel Yongco played only for three quarters but still topscored for the Judenites with 18 points aside from posting three rebounds and the same number of steals.
Also armed with a twice-to-beat bonus, JCA survived Philippine Cultural College’s spirited comeback to carve out a 61-57 victory and earn the right to meet St. Jude in the finals.
St. Jude downed JCA, 90-50, in the elims but the Judenites are expecting a tough series, saying the Jubilee squad has improved tremendously since the elims.
Meanwhile, Uno High School will host the first-ever Coach E-Uno High School Summer Basketball Camp in April.
