Sans opponent, Pacquiao to begin training
MANILA, Philippines – Even without an opponent yet for his next fight, Manny Pacquiao will jump into training soon.
While waiting for a planned megabuck bout with Floyd Mayweather to get finalized, the Filipino icon said he will start “serious training” for his next assignment.
Pacquiao took to Instagram to bare his plans, posting two photos of him carrying his youngest son Israel.
“More than anything that is very important is when you serve the Lord and spend time with the family before the serious training for the upcoming fight. Fight who?????? Hehehe im excited for this!” Pacquiao wrote in the caption.
The fighting congressman’s next opponent remains a big question mark. While the boxing world is hoping it will be Mayweather, negotiations for the showdown have hit a snag the past week. There are likewise no updates from Mayweather, who will be the one to announce the match if it is a go.
Top Rank Inc. chief Bob Arum earlier said it might be too late for the fight to happen on May 2 if a deal cannot be sealed soon.
In case the Mayweather fight doesn’t push through, Amir Khan is a strong contender to win the Pacquiao sweepstakes.
