World champ hold two-day jet ski clinics

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - American World Jet Ski champion Chris MacCluggage is  currently  conducting jet ski racing clinics in key cities in the country.

MacCluggage, through the invitation of the Jet Sports Association of the Philippines (JSAP)  is in  Cebu  for a two-day clinics before completing his visit in Subic on Jan. 28-29.

The 41-year-old MacCluggage won 19 world titles in his 20-year career, the last was his third Pro Ski plum despite the strong challenge from younger talented rivals in the 2014 World Jet Ski Finals in Lake Havasu last October.

The Pro Ski or more known as the Stand-Up class is the most strenuous category in jet ski racing as it entails more of focus, strategy and body endurance particularly the leg and arm muscles having to go through at least eight laps of racing standing up.

Jet Ski followers in the Southeast Asian region got a glimpse of his world caliber skills when he also won the Pro Ski crown in Thailand’s prestigious annual King’s Cup International Jet Ski Cup last December.

MacCluggage believes Filipinos have great chances as world champions as he personally witnessed how ace Filipino riders Paul del Rosario and BJ Ang made it among the World’s top 10 Pro riders in the World Jet Ski Finals.

“I believe it’s all a matter of how they negotiate each passing of the race course as we focus more on teaching scientific techniques for prospective future jet ski racing champions.  If time permits, I’ll try to make it a more personal training by riding alongside the participants to correct their flaws and show the perfect racing line,” said MacCluggage.
