Phantoms win on Kobe Paras’ return

MANILA, Philippines – The LA Cathedral Phantoms welcomed back Kobe Paras with a big win over Cantwell-Sacred Heart Cardinals, 57-50, at the Rio Hondo Community High School gym on Wednesday (Thursday Manila time).

Paras, who missed their last two games with a sprained ankle, provided the game's highlight reel with a slam, his only basket in the game. The son of former PBA Rookie-MVP Benjie Paras more than made up for his lack of offensive presence on the defensive side as the 6-7 wingman made four shot blocks and same number of steals.

Phantom's main man Milan Acquaah finished with 20 points, seven assists and five steals while senior Leandro Amador and 6-10 Brazilian forward Lucas Siewart added 11 points apiece as they marched to their third straight win.

LA Cathedral clamped down on defense in the second quarter where they limited Cantwell-Sacred Heart to just seven points as they took full control of the game, 32-23.

The Phantoms, who clinched a spot in the Open Division playoffs, improved to 15-3 win-loss card while the Cardinals dropped to 11-8 card.
