Beermen survive Aces, end PBA All-Filipino title drought

MANILA, Philippines – The San Miguel Beermen squeaked past the Alaska Aces, 80-78, to crown themselves 2014-15 PBA Philippine Cup champions before a jampacked crowd in Game 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Wednesday night.

Arwind Santos stood tall for the Beermen with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, eventually bagging the finals Most Valuable Player plum. The San Miguel forward has averaged 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in the series.

SMB thus ends its 14-year Philippine Cup drought.
