Zaragosa, Constantino rule Valley jungolf

MANILA, Philippines - Rupert Zaragosa and Harmie Constantino led the winners in the recent 10th anniversary tournament of the Jungolf Association of Valley Golf (JAV) at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo where prizes, including playing privileges for the top finishers, were given away.

Winners were awarded by Ayala Land president Bobby Dy and past JAV officers William Uy, Rolly Romero, Rommel Grageda and Mario Monsalve and TJGL president Chona dela Paz.

Zaragosa stamped his class with a 10-under-par 62 on the first day and a 69 on the second day for a 131 aggregate.

He was followed by 13-year-old Aidric Chan’s 141 with Ryan Monsalve claiming third in  his farewell event as a jungolfer in the 15-17 division.

Constantino, Samantha Bruce, and Annika Cedo got their share of the playing privileges at Valley by taking the top three places in the 15-17 girls. 

The top placers in the other divisions were Carlo Villaroman, Carl Jano Corpus, and Paqo Barro (boys 13-14), Josh Jorge, Perry Bucay, and Jed Dy (boys 11-12), Mariel Tee, Jamina Uttoh, and Laia Barro (girls 11-12), Ken Shibata, Sean Granada, and Sean Ramos (boys 9-10), Samantha Dizon and Annika Chua (girls 9-10), Andrew Chua, Santino Pineda, and Kirk Dela Torre (boys 7-8) and Theresa Dela Paz (girls 7-8).

Meanwhile, JAV with the backing of the new  VGCCI president Jose Tayawa and past president Noel Flores together with JAV president Judeo Chan also announced the holding of the JAV International Open in December.

Five countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei, are sending their best jungolfers to the said event, which also hosted  the last sixth ASEAN Schools tournament. 

Other countries such as Guam, Hong Kong will also be invited.
