MANILA, Philippines - Young Seaoil karter Gabriel Tayao Cabrera takes on Asia’s best as he debuts in the seniors class of the Rotax Invitational, which fires off in Malaysia next week.
“I’m very excited to start the year. I know there are big challenges since I will be one of the youngest drivers in the grid but I have trained hard during the off-season for my senior debut,” said Cabrera.
The Rotax Invitational is the pre-season race for the Asia Max Challenge. The series has attracted thousands of drivers from all over the world with a number of graduates now vying in Formula racing and other motorsports events.
Cabrera, currently a Grade 10 Makati Hope Christian School student, will be the only Filipino bet in Nizra Motorsports’ line-up of top international senior drivers picked for their potentials.
Owned by the Malaysian conglomerate Nizra Group, Nizra Motorsports is the Asian distributor for the world’s number 1 kart brand Tonykart which will be the team’s official chassis. Nizra Motorsports will be overseeing the Tonykart works team competing in the Asian Rotax Series as well as the Indonesia Rotax Series.
This will be Cabrera’s second year with the elite team. Nizra Motorsports is an international motorsports company in collaboration with the world’s reputable motorsports partners. They were the same group that brought over the ART Grand Prix brand in Asia and successfully produced podium winners, including the overall senior Max crown last year.
