MANILA, Philippines - Judiciary rode on a big second quarter charge to trounce Metro Manila Development Authority, 103-76, and notch its fourth straight win in Group B of the third UNTV Cup at the Makati Coliseum over the weekend.
The Magis trailed the Black Wolves, 21-24, at the end of the first quarter but former PBA player Don Camaso scored 12 of his team-high 28 points in the next period to spark the team’s surge en route to a 53-43 lead at the half.
They padded their lead to 77-60 going into the final quarter as John Hall and Ariel Capus joined the scoring spree with the Magis moving within a win from sweeping the first round elims in the tournament organized by UNTV officials for the country’s public servants.
Hall hit all but one of his nine field goal attempts to finish with 21 points while Capus chipped in 13 markers.
In the other Group B action, GSIS stunned defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines, 100-87, to tie its victim at 2-2.
With five of its players scoring in double figures, Philippine National Police closed out its first round campaign with a 105-68 rout of Bureau of Fire Protection in the lone Group A match. PNP finished second with a 3-1 record.
