South Korea forced into major changes against Kuwait

Jon Duerden - The Philippine Star

CANBERRA, Australia — Star winger Lee Chung-yong has flown home from the Asian Cup due to a shin fracture and is among several changes South Korea has been forced to make for Tuesday's game against Kuwait because of injury and illness.

Lee, who plays for English club Bolton, was injured in the win over Oman on Saturday and was diagnosed with a shin fracture on Tuesday. It is unlikely he will participate in the rest of the tournament.

Right-back Kim Chang-soo has also failed to recover from his injury, while attacker Son Heung-min, midfielder Koo ja-cheol and goalkeeper Kim Jin-hyun were all removed from the team due to colds that worsened in the hours before kick-off.
