The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Taekwondo’s plan and program for 2015 and its accomplishments for 2014 will be discussed on Sunday when the Philippine Taekwondo Association together with the SMART Communications/MVP Sports Foundation hold this year’s National Instructors’ General Assembly at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

More than 500 national and regional head instructors from all over the country will attend the assembly, according to PTA chief executive officer and Grand Master Sung Chon Hong.

During the gathering, NCR and regional officers will make performance reports regarding the 2014 activities and the whole assembly will discuss the 2015 national and international competitions such as the World Championships, World Cadet, Asian Junior Championships, the much-awaited 28th Southeast Asian Games, the Philippine Taekwondo League and many others.

“Definitely, the assembly will talk about our accomplishments for the past year,” says Hong.

Registration for the one-day event will be from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a refresher course on the new World Taekwondo Federation officiating rules as well as the updated techniques for poomsae and kyorugi (sparring).

With the able leadership of Hong and the support of sponsors like SMART, MVP Sports Foundation, Meralco, TV5, Milo and the backing of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission, taekwondo has consistently produced outstanding performers and countless medals in both local and international competitions.
