Tebow, famous quarterback,to establish Davao hospital

MANILA, Philippines - Tim Tebow became famous for his hard work and public displays of faith on the football field – but now he’s gaining recognition for something far away from the 50 yard line. The former Florida Gators and Denver Broncos quarterback just revealed that he’s using his influence to help people less fortunate than himself.

The former sports star recently announced plans to open the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, Philippines. This hospital will aid children who cannot afford critical orthopedic surgery and other treatments.

According to Christian Post, Tebow worked with the organization “CURE International” to design and build the medical facility.

The hospital will have 30 beds, along with several operating rooms. Over 50 healthcare workers will be on staff to provide treatment to the children.

The Philippines holds a special place in Tim Tebow’s life. While the outspoken athlete has a reputation as a clean-cut “all American” figure, he was actually born in the Philippines. Tebow’s parents lived and worked in Makati City as missionaries.

“I have always had a great love and passion for the Filipino people,” Tebow stated. “It is so exciting to be able to provide healing and care for these incredibly deserving children halfway around the world.”

Many of the medical procedures that will be provided to impoverished children are seen as routine in the United States, but are rare in poor countries.

“These are simple procedures we take for granted in the U.S.,” explained Erik Dellenback, the Executive Director of the Tim Tebow Foundation.

“The reality is that we hope to show people in the Philippines that there is faith, hope and love out there. We want to show them that the Western world cares about them and that they’re not a deserted nation.”

While so many multi-millionaire sports figures make headlines for crimes and self-serving choices, it’s incredibly refreshing to see somebody like Tebow put his MONEY where his mouth is.
