Galedo dominates Monasteryo race
MANILA, Philippines - Mark Galedo of 7-11/Roadbike Philippines firmed up his claim as the country’s top road racer at present when he ruled the Monasteryo de Tarlac circuit in Tarlac City recently.
Galedo, 27, clocked four hours, 17 minutes, 45 seconds to beat LBC/MVP Sports Foundation’s Ronald Lomotos and Ronald Oranza by more than four minutes before a big crowd at the Tarlac Provincial Capitol.
Galedo, who won the Le Tour and finished second behind Butuan City’s Reimon Lapaza in the LBC Ronda Pilipinas early in the year, outsprinted George Oconer in the final 20 kilometers and cruised to victory.
Galedo later dedicated his win to his wife Grace.
Rounding up the top 10 were Nelson Martin, Oconer, Baler Ravina, Oscar Rindole, Santy Barnachea, Kim Nasino and Joel Calderon.
LBC-MVPSF’s Jayson Gupit bested 7-11/Roadbike’s Jay Lampawog and Tarlac’s Alvin Mandi to top the juniors’ event.
National team mainstays Marella Salamat, Jermy Prado and Avegail Rombaon dominated the women’s side while Romeo Camingao of Excellent Noodle and David Perez finished 1-2 in the Executive category.
