MANILA, Philippines - Kobe Paras helped the Los Angeles Cathedral nail the San Fernando Valley Invitational crown in Southern California recently.
Although it was Milan Acquaah’s triple that lifted the Cathedral Phantoms to a come-from-behind 65-63 victory over the Chaminade side in the finals, the 6-6 Paras provided the spark throughout their campaign by norming 16 points in all of their six victories.
That included an impressive 30-point explosion in a 77-67 semifinal romp over Alemany although he struggled for 11 points in the finale while battling early foul woes.
Acquaah’s basket capped a sizzling 9-0 finish for the Phantoms.
For his effort, Paras was named to the All-Tournament Team.
“Great win! Thank you to everyone who watched! & a big s/o to Chaminade and the Chaminade SS! I hope my school has a SS section like that,” said Paras on his Twitter account @Im_Not_Kobe.
Paras, who shot 30 points against Alemany, picked up two quick fouls against Chaminade and was forced to sit out, enabling their rivals to seize control at 63-56 before Acquaah took over.
