UE sweeps UAAP fencing

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East swept all division crowns in the UAAP fencing competitions held Dec. 4-7 at the UP Diliman Gym to retain the title in the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ divisions.

UE now holds the UAAP records for eight consecutive titles – out of nine in all – in women’s division and three titles in a row in the men’s division, and four and five straight seasons, respectively, in girls’ and boys divisions.

Also, six UE fencers took home individual awards. The Most Valuable Player awardees were Nathaniel Perez (men), Justine Gail Tinio (women), Divine Romero (girls) and Samuel Tranquilan (boys). The Rookie of the Year honors went to Nicole Cortey (women) and Samantha Catantan (girls).
