Xavier, Ateneo de Iloilo reach SBP finals

MANILA, Philippines - Xavier School and Ateneo de Iloilo posted two victories each to reach the championship round of the SBP division of the BEST SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament national finals at the Magis Eagles Arena of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu recently.

Xavier School routed Bukidnon Faith Christian School, 71-43, then cruised past Berkeley School of Baguio, 60-33, while Ateneo de Iloilo trounced Berkeley School of Baguio, 58-40, then smothered Bukidnon Faith Christian School, 59-42, to tie Xavier at the top with a 2-0 record, setting the stage for a final showdown between two brother Jesuit-run schools.

In the Passerelle division of the tournament sponsored by Milo and supported by Chris Sports, the University of the Visayas stunned defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College, 64-40, then survived Holy Angel University of Pampanga, 45-42, to earn a seat in the finals.

Holy Child College of Davao also scraped past Holy Angel University, 60-53, but bowed to Chiang Kai Shek, 60-62, to forge a tie at second with the defending champions.
